The image is crisp, clean and pleasant to view. I bought this to use as a second monitor beside an NEC Display Solutions P221W-BK 22-Inch 8ms(GTG) 300 cd/m2 1000:1 Widescreen LCD Monitor (Black) and it meets my basic needs as a "Display 2" for Lightroom and other applications.I'm taking two stars off because the color accuracy way off, in spite of trying to tune it with a ColorMunki Photo - Monitor, Printer & Projector Profiler. It is not possible to calibrate this model sufficiently for photo editing. They are a little tricky to discover. There are no buttons, but they work by touching the lower right bottom of the frame around the screen. A menu then appears and you continue touching selections (left, right, up, down, exit, and so on) to navigate the controls. Using this method, you can adjust the monitor over a wide range of settings and probably get it to perform as you originally hoped it would. That said, it was the color on this monitor was the first thing that impressed me when I fired it up. Keep in mind that it's right above a MacBook Pro with a pretty nice anti-glare monitor on it, itself, so I'm looking at both of them side by side, so to speak. (That's a lot of s's, isn't it?) I'm using this monitor as a second display next to my 21.5 iMac. On it's own, it's a great display. Clear, vivid, great looking form-factor. Next to a Mac display you notice it's small shortcomings. Font's are not as smooth and contrast isn't as high. Color doesn't quite match the vivid Mac display either. Otherwise, it's a great little HD screen and I'd recommend it to anyone.One drawback (and it's probably just my OCD) that I will note about all Samsung monitors I've ever owned is the annoyingly bright blue status LED located at the bottom right corner. When a display's screen is on, isn't that enough for us to understand the monitor is on? Why add on overly bright LED saying "I'm turned on" when we see the image already? And when it's asleep, it blinks (and in a dark room is very bright and bothersome). Some will argue that the status light is necessary to know that it's getting power... Read more |
